PHSPs at a Glance
Here's some quick notes on a PHSP that will help you decide if you need to keep reading more on the site. As mentioned in my email, this is a new service and so I'd love to hear your feedback.
How a PHSP Works
- The employer enrols in the service choosing to pre-fund or proceed on a scheduled invoice schedule.
- The employer chooses the Class Levels or limits for employees. There are some rules around this but this mechanism allows you to set the limits of what your employees are eligible to claim each year.
- The employer rolls the program out to their covered employees.
- Employees submit claims directly to HealthRabbit.
- HealthRabbit invoices the employer and reimburses the employee 100% of their expenses (up to their cap).
- HealthRabbit provides paperwork to the employer on a set schedule.
Ideal Scenarios to Use a PHSP
- Group benefits are being underutilized resulting in high premiums being paid with little value being returned.
- Group benefits may simply be priced out of reach of being viable for your business.
- Can be provided as an addition to group benefit coverage to cover gaps in said coverage.
- Increase staff retention with coverage where none existed before. This is ideal in restaurants or retail where providing some coverage, say $500-$1,000 per year, to all staff can reduce the burden of on-going health costs or cover an emergency that would otherwise be detrimental to their income.
- PHSPs can be used to cover health insurance premiums for employees so those that maintain traditional insurance can make use of the plan.
